Friday, June 30, 2023 – The Menu: a historic award, new Midwest restaurant, and a new book on corn
Wampanoag chef Sherry Pocknett made history when she became the first Indigenous women to win a James Beard Award. The Foundation named her the Best Chef of the Northeast. A new Native-owned restaurant in La Pointe, Wis., Miijim, is making waves with an Indigenous menu by Red Cliff Band chef Bryce Stevenson. And Rebecca Webster’s (Oneida) new book Our Precious Corn: Yukwanénste recounts the history and travels of her tribe’s traditional grain. It’s all on The Menu with Andi Murphy.
